Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness
This training
course is specifically designed for local organizations in the Global South,
including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, local
government units, and grassroots associations. The course focuses on the unique
challenges faced by regions vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods,
droughts, earthquakes, and hurricanes, as well as risks resulting from human
activities, including conflicts and industrial accidents. The
program places particular emphasis on low-cost, community-based strategies,
cultural sensitivity, and alignment of interventions with the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). It draws upon global best practices adapted to fit
resource-constrained environments.
