The program addresses the latest methodologies for Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) and highlights the importance of integrating the "Build Back Better" concept to ensure a more resilient and sustainable recovery in the face of future risks. This training program aims to develop participants' capabilities in planning and implementing recovery and reconstruction programs following disasters, with a focus on rehabilitating critical infrastructure, restoring livelihoods, and empowering communities to restore normal life in a sustainable manner.

About this course

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental concepts related to disaster management and the risk management cycle (prevention – preparedness – response – recovery).
  • Apply the PDNA methodology to estimate damages and losses and identify needs after a disaster.
  •  Prepare an integrated recovery plan that links rapid relief with long-term recovery.
  •  Integrate the principles of "Build Back Better" into reconstruction plans and livelihood revival.
  • Enhance institutional and community coordination in post-disaster planning and implementation processes.
  •   Analyze global case studies from Global South countries and identify lessons learned from them.
