- The passage of the tropical cyclone FENGAL over the Puducherry union territory and the Tamil Nadu state, south-eastern India on 1 December, caused very heavy rainfall, strong winds, storm surges, floods and landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.
- Media report, as of 2 December, three fatalities in the Chennai city, the capital of the Tamil Nadu state and a number of rescued families across the mentioned state. In addition, media also report hundreds of evacuated people and several rescued people across the Puducherry union territory.
- Over the next 72 hours, more heavy rainfall is still forecast over south-eastern India.

- The passage of the tropical cyclone FENGAL over the Puducherry union territory and the neighbouring Tamil Nadu state, south-eastern India on 1 December, caused very heavy rainfall, strong winds, storm surges, floods and landslides that have resulted in an increased number of casualties and damage.
- Media report, as of 4 December, 20 fatalities, of which 16 fatalities across the Tamil Nadu state - ten in the Tiruvannamalai city, four in the Chennai city, the capital of the state, one in the Ooty town, and one more in the Vellore city - and four fatalities in the Puducherry city, Puducherry union territory.
- Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall is still forecast over southern India, including the already affected area.
